Teacher Instructions Week 18
Early Learning Foundations 3
Lift Off Page - Step 6
Number Word Writing
Print a page for each student and have the student trace three rows of number words.
Creep Forward (Cross)
To organize the midbrain area so the endocrine system, autonomic nervous system (responsible for allergies and asthma) and immune system will function well.
Positively effects eye-hand coordination and convergence for improved reading.
Improves concentration, memory, learning, nightmares, risk-taking behaviors and impulse control.
Can improve depression, schizophrenia, addictive behaviors, cognitive disorganization and regulation of emotions including limbic rage.
Instructions: Show client how to creep. Coach by concentrating on one or two aspects of improvement at a time. Slowly build up to time indicated on program.
Hand hits the ground at the exact same time as the opposite knee
Fingers flat on floor and straight ahead
Nylon hose can help synchronize movements for building neuro pathways correctly (see intro video for details)
Do NOT occlude an eye while creeping
Creeping Games (optional)
Go Fish: (Need cards) Cards are spread around the room in a big circle and the child is asked to match pairs. (Some other card games could work) Find all the cows, find all the A's, etc.
Pan and Spoons: Parent puts a pan and six spoons at the other end of the room. The whole family races to put all the spoons (which are spread widely apart) in the pan before the timer goes off.
Simon Says (Creep under a chair; Bring...to me; Find a ...; Creep around the couch three times; etc.)
For any of these games that involve the child carrying objects, it is important for the child to have a pocket or pouch to hold the object while he or she is transporting it so that hands can remain free to creep. Bib-overalls, fanny packs or small pouches can be used, worn in a way that will not interfere with the child's movement.
Variation With Listening:
Client should be on the floor for the full time listed on INP either creeping or resting briefly. (Build up to creeping the full duration of time listed.)
Assistant reads with a strong voice-lessons like history, science, literature as well as jokes and riddles as client creeps. If client is creeping in a hallway, assistant sits in the middle so that client is able to hear what is being said. Assistant asks questions every once in a while to engage client in conversation.
An audio recording can be played on a boom box and an assistant can stop the recording every few minutes to engage client in conversation, discussion and review of lessons/literature.
A third option is for client to listen to audio recordings on an MP3 player or CD player strapped on.
